Revealed by Elaine Manders plus giveaway!

Revealed was the first book I have read by Elaine Manders and I quite enjoyed it. Her writing style reminds me of Mary Connealy or Cathy Marie Hake. After I started I realized that this was book 3 and although it can be read as a stand-alone, I would have preferred to read the other books first. I will go back and read the first 2 in order to be caught up. Ms. Manders does a fine job of creating realistic characters and witty dialogue. The setting is the old west on a millionaires' ranch. There is plenty of drama and plot twists that keep you turning pages well after midnight! So grab yourself a cup of joe and settle back for a good read.

I was given this book by the publisher, All thoughts are my own.

My Backstory
Intrigue under Western Skies Series, Book 3
Revealed

Back when I watched television, drama series were my favorite—Little House of the Prairie, the Waltons, the Virginian. I was caught up in the lives of these characters and looked forward to seeing what they were up to each week. For much the same reason, I enjoy writing episodic series.
Intrigue under Western Skies, a blended genre, historical romantic suspense series falls in this category. Some of the characters show up in every book, with new ones added along the way. But the books can be read out of sequence since each one has a different premise and plot.
In Revealed, Book 3 of Intrigue under Western Skies, I wanted to give Colt Holliman, previously introduced as a secondary character, his own HEA. Also, it seemed the time to reveal what happened to Rhyan Cason’s mother, the woman who’d caused so much angst in the first two books. More importantly, it gave me the opportunity to introduce Katherine, the sister he never knew existed.
Unexpectedly, my research led me to the history of show business, and how it developed through the Wild West shows of the nineteenth century. From that, a mystery evolved.
The spiritual thread running through Revealed explores the emotions of a young woman who discovers blood relatives have been hidden from her. Can she accept and love her new family and forgive the sins of her parents?
Maybe the greatest insight I gained from writing Revealed is that one can never trust his own heart without first trusting God.

A Chance At Forever by Melissa Jagears

A Chance At Forever by Melissa Jagears is her third visit to Teaville. As always the Teaville Moral society is involved with rescuing women and children from the red light district. Some are more involved than others. Mercy McClain helps her brother and his wife to run the orphanage. She has also been elected to the school board. G. Aaron Firebrook applies for a job as the math teacher, but low and behold he is the boy who bullied Mercy unbearably throughout her childhood. How can she protect the children of Teaville from a similar fate?

The verse that came to mind while I was reading this book was:
Isaiah 43:18-21 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
18 “Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
19 “Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?

I loved Mercy and Aaron's story and sincerely hope that this is not the last visit to Teaville. So settle back with a pot of chamomile and enjoy the story.

I was given this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

In early 1900s Kansas, Mercy McClain, determined to protect Teaville's children from the bullying she experienced as a child, finds fulfillment working at the local orphanage and serving on the school board. When Aaron Firebrook, the classmate who bothered her more than any other, petitions the board for a teaching position, she's dead set against him getting the job.

Aaron knows he deserves every bit of Mercy's mistrust, but he's returned to his hometown a changed man and is seeking to earn forgiveness of those he wronged. He doesn't expect Mercy to like him, but surely he can prove he now has the best interests of the children at heart.

Will resentment and old wounds hold them back, or can Mercy and Aaron put the past behind them in time to face the unexpected threats to everything they're working for?

About the author:

Biography

Much to her introverted self's delight, ACFW Award winner and double INSPY finalist Melissa Jagears hardly needs to leave her home to be a homeschooling mother and novelist. She lives in Kansas with her husband and three children and can be found online at www.melissajagears.com, Facebook, Pinterest, and Goodreads.

Miss Serena's Secret by Carolyn Miller

Miss Serena's Secret is a delightful Regency about Miss Serena Winthrop who has been deeply wounded by a man and Viscount Carmichael a notorious gambler entrusted with keeping her safe. Ms. Miller is a wonderful storyteller who creates fascinating tales of romance and history. She obviously enjoys research as her stories are full of interesting tidbits. I love the characters and their dialogue is very realistic without being stilted or simpering. Ms. Miller is definitely one of my go-to authors. So grab a pot of English Breakfast tea and settle back for an enchanting tale.

I was given a copy of this novel by NetGalley.com with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

How can a wounded young woman ever trust a too-flirtatious earl with her heart?

With devastating scars in her past, Serena Winthrop is sure no man can be trusted—especially not a man like the too-smooth Viscount Carmichael. His reputation as a flirt and a gambler is everything she despises. And the young artist makes sure that this disreputable heir to an earldom knows of her deep disapproval whenever they encounter one another.

Henry, Lord Carmichael, is perfectly aware of his charms. He's gambled with plenty of ladies' hearts as easily as he has with their husbands' money. But lately he's wondered if there's more to life—and if his actions might prove unworthy of an admirable wife such as his friends have found.

When Serena's guardian asks his best friend to protect his young ward, Henry promises to be on his best behavior and not woo her. But the more he learns of her, the more he realizes she might be his best reason for changing his character.

Then the lady's art leads her to London infamy. Now Henry must choose between the life mapped out for him as the earl apparent and the love of his life. And Serena's secret may mean the end of his titled family line.

This second novel in a new series by internationally popular author Carolyn Miller is full of the rich historical detail and evocative writing her readers enjoy, and familiar characters make appearances here. The witty banter will continue to draw in fans of Jane Austen, Sarah Ladd, and Julie Klassen.

"Carolyn Miller gets better and better with each book!"
Becky

"This entire series is going straight to my all-time favorites shelf!"

About the author:

Biography

Hi, I'm Carolyn Miller, author of 'The Elusive Miss Ellison'.

I live in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.

I'm married, with four gorgeous children, who all love to read (and write!) as I do (except not in the Regency genre - funny, that!).

My favourite authors are classics like Jane Austen (of course!), Georgette Heyer, and Agatha Christie, but I also enjoy contemporary authors like Susan May Warren and Becky Wade.

I try to write stories that are fun and witty, yet also deal with real issues, such as dealing with forgiveness, the nature of really loving versus 'true love', and other challenges we all face at different times.

I hope you enjoy reading my novels. Thanks for stopping by!

The Captured Bride by Michele Griep

The Captured Bride by Michele Griep is a story about the French and Indian war. Mercy is a scout for the English and is paired up for a mission with Elias, a traitor. I love the dialogue between Elias and Mercy, it is witty and entertaining. Both are strong characters and well able to stand on their own. The story flows well with a few plot twists. I always enjoy the way Michele crafts a story. Although The Captured Bride is part of a series by different authors, it can be read as a standalone book. So grab a cup of spruce tip tea and settle in for a great read.

Dead Drift by Dani Pettrey and giveaway

Dead Drift is the thrilling conclusion to master suspense writer Dani Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor series. This is a real page-turner with assassins, anthrax and all manner of suspenseful action. Although this is Katie and Luke's story, everyone else from the series makes an appearance. I love the camaraderie between the characters and Ms. Pettrey as always creates memorable dialogue. I love the suspense and faith in God that intertwine throughout the story. Ms. Pettery did an awesome job of tying all of the loose threads together for a truly satisfying conclusion. But make sure you read books 1, 2 and 3 first. So grab a steamy mug of black tea and curl up for a good read.
