The Bride Of Blackfriar's Lane by Michelle Griep

I just finished reading The Bride of BlackFriar's Lane and it was fabulous! I really enjoyed visiting with Kit and Jackson, two of the most stubborn, but enjoyable characters ever! The descriptions of Victorian London are realistic and sometimes stomach-turning, but also quite necessary to the story. I loved the way they recognized their faith and longing for family. I highly recommend this book and sincerely hope for a third adventure! I purchase Michelle Griep's books as soon as they are available, I don't even need to read the synopsis to know it will be a fantastic novel.

So brew up a pot of tea, find a comfy chair and enjoy a romp through the streets of Victorian London.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

The Continuing Adventure of Jackson and Kit.
Detective Jackson Forge can hardly wait to marry the street-sly swindler who's turned his life upside down. Kit Turner is equally excited to wed the handsome detective, and what better way to show her love than providing him with a gift any man of the law would love? She determines to bring to justice the men who years ago maimed his brother despite Jackson's warning to leave the past in the past. As she digs into the mystery of what happened, she unwittingly tumbles into her own history and endangers her future happiness with Jackson.

About the author:

I hear voices. Loud. Incessant. And very real. This basically gives me two options: choke back massive amounts of Prozac or write fiction. I've been writing since I discovered blank wall space and Crayolas. I seek to glorify God in all that I write--except for that graffiti phase I went through as a teenager.

Bring Her Home (Crown Of Promise #1) by Hannah Currie

Three men had fought for her, but only one man stood victorious. It wasn't the one she wanted. But, bound by the same honor code as the knights, the choice was no longer hers.

The knight had won.

She was the prize.

There was nothing else to say.

Bring Her Home is the first book in Hannah Currie's latest series, Crown Of Promise. It is a retelling of the biblical story of the Prodigal Son. Bring Her home is set in Medieval Times and the protagonist is Eva/ Princess Evangeline. I really enjoyed the setting and the storyline was fabulous. All of the characters were well developed and drew one into the story. The forgiveness of both self and others is a central theme. This will be the second series of books I have read by Ms. Currie and so far it seems even better than the first series, Daughters of Peverell. Bring Her Home is the first book in a new publishing line: White Crown Publishing. I look forward to reading more from both Hannah Currie and White Crown Publishing.

Now pour up a cup of tea, plate up a few cookies, and cozy up to a great read,

From Amazon:

Since the morning he woke to find his precious daughter gone with only the remains of their latest argument left behind, King Lior has been praying she’d come home. For four years now, he’s prayed and searched, sending his best knights to find Evangeline, only to hear nothing. Until the day their missive arrives with three words: we’ve found her. He sends one right back with orders to bring her home.

But that order isn’t easily achieved. Evangeline, now a lowly servant, has no plans to return. Though the knights claim her father still loves her, she knows the truth: he’d cast her aside as quickly as everyone else if he knew how far she’d truly fallen. She can’t go home. Not with her scars. Or her failures. Or her son.

Only, the knights won’t leave without her. And just as she starts to wonder if maybe they might be right, the choice is taken from her altogether.

Sir Darrek thought the hardest part of his quest would be finding Evangeline. He had no idea how difficult it would be to get her home.

About the author:

Hannah Currie

Australian author, Hannah Currie, loves God, family, people (in small numbers, let’s not go crazy here!) and writing. A book nerd from birth, she knows firsthand the difference a good book can make in a person’s life. Even, and especially, fiction. Her dream as a writer is to make people laugh, cry and maybe even swoon a little but mostly to remind them that no matter how dark life may get at times, because of God, there is always hope.

She and her husband live with their three adorable kids in sunny Queensland, where it really is beautiful one day and perfect the next. Except, maybe, during heatwaves. They’re not so fun.

Worthy Of Legend (The Secrets Of The Isles Book #3) by Roseanna White

The final book in Roseanna White's Secrets Of The Isles series is Worthy Of Legend. I have really enjoyed spending time in the Scilly Isles. I had never heard of them before reading this series, but I would love to see them in person now. It was very interesting to learn some of the histories of the Isles. The Isles belong to the Duchy of Cornwall, presently owned by Prince William, The Duke Of Cornwall.

The story is very engaging with well-developed characters. I enjoyed the treasure hunt. I have always been a fan of King Arthur so it was a fun twist to involve him in the plot.

I believe my favorite part of the story is the way Roseanna has her characters share their faith. All in all, I am sorry that this is the final book in the series.

I do recommend that you read all three books in order. So grab some tea and biscuits, then settle in for a grand adventure.

From Amazon:

1906

After a summer of successful pirate-treasure hunting, Lady Emily Scofield and her friends must hide the unprecedented discoveries they've made, thanks to the betrayal of her own family. Horrified by her brother, who will stop at nothing to prove himself to their greedy father, Emily is forced to take a stand against her family--even if it means being cut off entirely.

Bram Sinclair, Earl of Telford, is fascinated with tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table--an interest he's kept mostly hidden for the last decade. But when a diary is unearthed on the islands that could lead to a secret artifact, Bram is the only one able to piece the legends together.

As Bram and Emily seek out the whereabouts of the hidden artifact, they must dodge her family and a team of archaeologists. In a race against time, it is up to them to decide what makes a hero worthy of legend. Is it fighting valiantly to claim the treasure . . . or sacrificing everything in the name of selfless love?

About the author:

Roseanna M. White is a bestselling, Christy Award nominated author who has long claimed that words are the air she breathes. When not writing fiction, she’s homeschooling her two kids, editing, designing book covers, and pretending her house will clean itself. Roseanna is the author of a slew of historical novels that span several continents and thousands of years. Spies and war and mayhem always seem to find their way into her books…to offset her real life, which is blessedly ordinary. You can learn more about her and her stories at www.RoseannaMWhite.com.
