a Run At Love by Toni Shiloh

A Run At Love was a fun book to read. I loved the plot and learned a bit about horse racing. I think it was fabulous that Piper and Tuck turned to God in every difficult moment. it was interesting reading about how a black person felt being raised in a white culture. Toni Shiloh is an excellent author who always entertains.

So grab a sweet tea and your derby hat, then settle in for a great read.

I was given a copy of A Run At Love with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

Secondary Target (The Secrets of Kincaid): (A Small-Town Thrilling Cold Case Romantic Suspense Debut Novel) by Angela Carlisle

Although Secondary Target is Angela Carlisle's debut novel it definitely reads like she is and established author. The plot flows smoothly but sucks you in with plot twists and edge of your seat suspense. I love Corina and Bryce with Houston an added bonus. Ms. Carlisle paints the settings with her words the way an artist paints a picture. Her writing style reminds me of Lynn Blackburn or Lynette Eason. I will admit that I did guess the identity of the bad guy before the end of the book and was delighted to find I was right. I look forward to reading more of Angela Carlisle's books.

So curl up in a cozy reading chair and settle in for a great read!

I was given a copy of Secondary Target with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

When Angels Cry by MaryLu Tyndall

When Angels Cry is a fascinating read, but not for the faint of heart. It is a fictional tale set in the near future. Most of the story revolves around Angelica Smokes and her former boyfriend Pastor Daniel Cain. There is quite a bit about spiritual warfare with angels and demons. This book kept me reading and intrigued. Well worth reading. I am looking forward to reading book 2, When Angels Battle. All 3 books in the series are available on Kindle Unlimited.

I recommend you set some time aside to focus on the story without interruption.

All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Not since the Left Behind series has there been a more compelling and eye-opening novel. Taut, tense, and totally unpredictable, When Angels Cry is a powerful love story not only for the heart and soul, but one for the ages—especially the age to come. — Julie Lessman, award-winning author of the Daughters of Boston, Winds of Change, and Isle of Hope series.

In the not too distant future… Wars, plagues, and famines ravage the world, immorality and violence are rampant, and the Bible is outlawed. Angelica Smoke, a single mother and cocktail waitress, ascends the steps of a megachurch to deliver a message from God to the one man she hoped to never see again.

That message thrusts world-famous pastor Daniel Cain into a whirlwind of confusion, causing him to seek out Angelica and demand an explanation. But the woman broke his heart once and is now involved in a fanatical cult. Even being seen with her could damage his career. Still, he cannot stay away, and the more time he spends with her, the more he begins to doubt everything he believes.

Angelica is a seer. God grants her visions of the future, but she has no idea what to do with them. Her top priority is protecting her son—from the world, the culture, the devil, and especially from Daniel. But God keeps throwing them together, causing her fears to rise and reopening old wounds that threaten to tear her soul apart. Angels watch over the couple, protecting and hoping they will make the right choices. But the angels are limited in what they can do as the end of the age comes to a close and the spiritual battles intensify, not only for Angelica and Daniel, but for all humanity.

Action-packed and thrilling, When Angels Cry is not only a great read but a thought-provoking tale. In the flavor of Peretti and Left Behind, this story paints a vivid picture of what things might be like in the last days. ~ Michelle Griep, author of The Captive Heart & Brentwood’s Ward Amazon Categories >Suspense >Contemporary Romance >Inspirational Romance >Christian Romance

26 below by Kimberly Woodhouse.

26 Below is set in Anchorage and tells the story of Darci Phillips Director of emergency operations and Jason Meyers cyber security expert. I really enjoyed the interaction between them. I also liked the old Native lady who appears to be the only one with a clue as to what is going on. As I live in an area where 26 below is a common event every winter I was interested in the descriptions of cold. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes suspense, mixed with mild romance and Faith. This is my first book by Kimberly Woodhouse , but it won't be my last!

All thoughts are my own.

They Whisper About Us by Joy Vee

Mary Vee is a new to me author. I really enjoyed reading They Whisper About Us. It is a story of a young woman discovering faith behind the Iron Curtain in  the 1960s and also a tale of a young woman looking for her faith in modern England. I look forward to reading more books by Mary Vee.

So make some Russian tea and settle back to read a good book!

All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

A tea tin.
Owned by one girl,
Found by another,
Over half a century later.
What mysteries does it hide?

An intriguing split time-line story, alternating between Leningrad in 1960's and modern day England. Vera dreams of rising thorough the Kirov Ballet and maybe becoming a People's Artist. Fay is a pastor's kid, disillusioned with her parents' faith, who attends a theatre summer programme in the hope of improving her skills. The girls' plans do not work out as they'd hoped, and their lives become entwinned when Fay accidentally finds an old tea tin.
REVIEW: As the story and the mystery of the connection between the two unfolds, we are drawn into the not so distant past; a world of fear and uncertainty, where to be different is to be treated with suspicion. In the modern day the author deals well with the angst of teenage insecurities and family dynamics, as well as touching on themes of aging and dementia with sensitivity. Amazon Review

Reading this book really helped me understand better what is going on today between Russia and Ukraine. Beta Reader

I stayed up too late reading this book. I just had to find out what happened next.

The Maid of Ballymacool by Jennifer Deibel

The Maid Of Ballymacool by Jennifer Deibel should be read over a long weekend with pots of tea, snacks, a comfy chair and a cozy blanket. The story is exquisite and the characters, setting and plot are fantastic. I love this story and highly recommend it. In fact it will most likely be on my top ten list for the year.

I was not asked to review this book and all thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Brianna Kelly was abandoned at Ballymacool House and Boarding School as an infant. She has worked there since she was a wee girl and will likely die there. Despite a sense that she was made for something more, Brianna feels powerless to change her situation, so she consoles herself by exploring the Ballymacool grounds, looking for hidden treasures to add to the secret trove beneath the floorboards of her room.

When Michael Wray, the son of local gentry, is sent to Ballymacool to deal with his unruly cousin, he finds himself drawn to Brianna, immediately and inescapably. There is something about her that feels so . . . familiar. When Brianna finds a piece of silver in the woods, she commits to learning its origins, with the help of Michael. What they discover may change everything.

Fan favorite Jennifer Deibel invites you back to the Emerald Isle in the 1930s for this fresh take on the Cinderella story, complete with a tantalizing mystery, a budding romance, and a chance at redemption.

I enjoyed If The Boot Fits so much that I used some PTO and left work at noon to go home and read. Karen Witemeyer wrote a very good story loosely based on Cinderella with Asher being the male version of Cinderella and Samantha the princess. The characters were strong and endearing, the plot delightful and the characters faith was strong. I highly recommend If The Boot fits to all who love Happily Ever After Stories.

Untaken by C.O. Wyler

I just finished reading Untaken by C.O. Wyler. I found it to be a very interesting book on the rapture. Told from the first person viewpoint Untaken follows a young woman named Sarah as she struggles to comprehend what has happened. At times the narrative is a bit grotesque, but necessary to convey the horror of being left behind. It is a quick, but tough read. Untaken is free on kindle.

Everyone in Gossamer Falls has a story. Never Fall Again is Cal and Landry's tale. I loved the way they tried to deny their feelings for each other. The romance was sweet but not over done.
