A Time To Weep by Tracy Higley

A Time To Weep is the continuing adventures of Sahara Aldridge as she joins forces with Jack Moretti. I love the details that Tracy Higley uses to paint pictures of times past. She creates drama and suspense leaving one to wonder if the characters will survive.  She weaves past and distant past together into one cohesive story that compels one to keep reading, longing for the characters to find their answers and live happily ever after. I look forward with great anticipation to the next chapter in Sahara and Jack's adventure, A Time To Love, releasing September 15th. So grab a snack and a pot of tea, settle down to a very enjoyable read.

I purchased my copy and all thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Sometimes the only way forward is back.

Sahara Aldridge, a young Egyptologist in 1922, is chasing down the trail of her parents through the unknown corridors of time.

But when all clues point to Ancient Rome as the next place to search, Sahara retreats into the safety of her archaeological work, cataloguing treasures from the newly-discovered tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

As the discovery of the intact tomb propels the world into a frenzy of “Tut-mania,” the ever-present Jack Moretti is there to help, but what is his agenda?

And it appears Tempus Vigilia isn’t going to leave her alone. The secret society has sent others, tracking her movements and asking too many questions.

Now it seems her family is in danger.

Sahara must once again put her career on hold, to find what she has lost.

But will Ancient Rome hold the answers, or only one more reason to grieve?

Tracy L. Higley

Biography

I've been writing adventure stories since the time I first picked up a pencil. I still have my first "real" novel--the story I began at the age of eight during a family trip to New York City.

Through my childhood I wrote short stories, plays for my friends to perform (sometimes I had to bribe them), and even started a school newspaper (OK, I was the editor, journalist and photographer since no one took that bribe to join me). Then there were the "drama years" of junior high, when I filled a blank journal with romance and poetry. Sigh.

In my adult years I finally got serious about publishing suspense fiction, and have since authored twelve novels in twelve years.

When I'm not writing, life is full of other adventures--running a business, raising kids, and my favorite pastime: traveling the world.

I started traveling to research my novels and fell in love with experiencing other cultures. It's my greatest hope that you'll feel like you've gotten to travel to the settings of my books, through the sights, sounds, smells, colors, and textures I try to bring back from my travels and weave into my stories.

To experience my travel journals and see the romantic settings of my books, I hope you'll visit my website at TracyHigley.com or meet up with me on Facebook at facebook.com/tracyhigley.

Aftermath by Terri Blackstock

I thought Aftermath was very well written. I enjoyed the romance and suspense. Aftermath des show how confusing mental illness can be as one of the characters has a distorted view of reality due to OCD. I enjoy the depth that Terri Blackstock brings to her books.

So grab a beverage and curl up for an intriguing read.

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

This gripping new thriller will leave you on the edge of your seat.

A devastating explosion.

Three best friends attend a concert. Only one makes it out alive.

A trunk full of evidence.

When police stop Dustin Webb with a warrant to search his trunk, he knows there’s been a mistake. He’s former military and owns a security firm. But he’s horrified when the officers find explosives, and he can’t fathom how they got there.

An attorney who will risk it all for an old friend.

Criminal attorney Jamie Powell was Dustin’s best friend growing up. They haven’t spoken since he left for basic training, but she’s the first person he thinks of when he’s arrested. Jamie knows she’s putting her career on the line by defending an accused terrorist, but she’d never abandon him. Someone is framing Dustin to take the fall for shocking acts of violence . . . but why?

Praise for Aftermath:

“In Aftermath, Terri Blackstock plumbs the depth of human emotion in the face of devastating tragedy, grief, and loss. Yet, she still manages to give readers her trademark suspenseful story, sweet romance, and hope for the future. From gut-wrenching scenes in a cancer patient’s hospital room to seeing the world through the eyes of a young woman with a debilitating mental health disorder, Blackstock pulls no punches about human frailties. Does the end justify the means? Romantic suspense lovers won’t want to miss Aftermath.” —Kelly Irvin, bestselling author

  • Book length: 72,000 words
  • Includes discussion questions for book clubs

About the author:

Terri Blackstock

Biography

Terri Blackstock is a New York Times best-seller, with over seven million copies sold worldwide. She has had over twenty-five years of success as a novelist. Terri spent the first twelve years of her life traveling in an Air Force family. She lived in nine states and attended the first four years of school in The Netherlands. Because she was a perpetual "new kid," her imagination became her closest friend. That, she believes, was the biggest factor in her becoming a novelist. She sold her first novel at the age of twenty-five, and has had a successful career ever since.

In 1994 Terri was writing for publishers such as HarperCollins, Harlequin, Dell and Silhouette, when a spiritual awakening drew her into the Christian market. As she was praying about her transition, she went on a cruise and noticed that almost everyone on the boat (including her) had a John Grisham novel. It occurred to her that some of Grisham's readers were Christians, and that if she wrote a fast-paced thriller with an added faith element, she might just find her niche. As God would have it, Christian publishers were showing interest in the suspense genre, so she quickly sold a four-book series to Zondervan. Since that time, she's written over thirty Christian titles, most of them suspense novels.

Terri has appeared on national television programs such as "The 700 Club" and "Home Life," and has been a guest on numerous radio programs across the country. The story of her personal journey appears in books such as Touched By the Savior by Mike Yorkey, True Stories of Answered Prayer by Mike Nappa, Faces of Faith by John Hanna, and I Saw Him In Your Eyes by Ace Collins.

Prime Directive by Davis Bunn

I am not sure how I feel about this book. Davis Bunn is usually one of my favorite authors, but I found the plot difficult to follow. Halfway through I set this book aside and read a few other books. It did get more interesting in the second half. Prime Directive seems to be a mixture of Science fiction and politics with a focus on diplomacy. I did become invested in the main characters and came to care about what happened to them. I feel the book ended too abruptly and see the possibility for a sequel, which I will read.

So grab your favorite beverage and settle in for an, interesting, read.

I borrowed a copy of Prime Directive from my public library. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

"In the past ninety days, sixteen colonists have been murdered, and nobody thought to report it until now?"

When a number of scientists are mysteriously killed on an insignificant scientific outpost on the planet of Loria and no alarm is raised, Commander Rickets of the Galactic Space Arm (GSA) is angered that no one can explain why. Rickets orders Lieutenant Amanda Bostick along with two armed Guardians, Sergeant Hamoud and Corporal Nasim, to investigate.

All three have faced setbacks in their careers and time is against them: the GSA is demanding answers within ten days. But they have no idea what to expect as there are few reports on the planet.

Why are the scientists being killed? Is there more to the mission than first appears? Are the sentient Lorians who inhabit the planet more of a threat than the GSA realize?

Heart Of The Crown by Hannah Currie

I have really enjoyed reading the Daughters Of Peverell trilogy. The plots have been well thought out and the characters have depth. I am sorry that this is the end of the series. Hannah Currie is going to go on my list of authors to watch as I will be interested to see what she writes next. I enjoyed her themes of forgiveness of others and also self.

So mix up a pitcher of ice tea and be sure to wear pretty shoes as you find a nice reading spot to enjoy this book and the weather!

All Thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

The last place Lady Wenderley Davis ever expected to find herself after swearing off princes forever was living in a palace with two of them. Even if it is only temporary. And she did agree to it. Kind of. Against her better judgment.

But then, she’s never been one to hide her heart, nor hold back help from anyone who needs it. And if ever there’s a family who needs help, it’s this one.

As two weeks stretch to more, Wenderley throws all she has into showing the princes and their family how to smile again, and she’s loving every moment of it. Which is a problem. Because she’s very quickly becoming attached, and – as the man she’d rather forget keeps reminding her – the one thing she can’t do is stay.

About the author:

Hannah Currie

Biography

Australian author, Hannah Currie, loves God, family, people (in small numbers, let’s not go crazy here!) and writing. A book nerd from birth, she knows firsthand the difference a good book can make in a person’s life. Even, and especially, fiction. Her dream as a writer is to make people laugh, cry and maybe even swoon a little but mostly to remind them that no matter how dark life may get at times, because of God, there is always hope.

She and her husband live with their three adorable kids in sunny Queensland, where it really is beautiful one day and perfect the next. Except, maybe, during heatwaves. They’re not so fun.

Her debut YA novel, Heart of a Royal, was published in October 2019. She has since published two more books in the series.

She loves to connect with readers. Come visit her at www.hannahcurrie.com :)
