Critical Threat (Extreme measures #3) by Lynette Eason

Lynette Eason is one of the best writers of suspense in today's  market. Her books keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you reading long after bedtime. Her books are always on my instant read list. Critical Threat is the third book in her Extreme Measures series and I was delighted to learn that there will be a fourth! I loved the interaction between Grace and Sam. They seemed like real people and they had realistic conversations. I enjoyed having Grace's friends from the previous books visit but would have liked them to be a bit more prominent in this book. The suspense was superior as I have come to expect. All said this was a wonderful book to end 2022 with.

So grab your favorite beverage and a cozy place to read, you will certainly enjoy Critical Threat!

I was given a copy of Critical Threat by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

FBI Special Agent Grace Billingsley tracks serial killers, using her skills as a psychiatrist and behavioral analyst to get dangerous people off the street and safely behind bars. But prison psychiatrist Sam Monroe knows that just because a killer is incarcerated doesn't mean they're not a threat. His own father, Peter, is a serial killer--in prison but certainly not out of Sam's life, as much as he wishes he was.

When bodies start showing up with Peter's MO, Sam and Grace are both called in to consult. They've met before--and though Grace thought they'd made a real connection, Sam ghosted her. They'll have to get past the awkwardness and mistrust to solve this case--especially because it's about to get personal.

USA Today bestselling author Lynette Eason doesn't give you time to catch your breath in this breakneck race to stop a serial killer.

The Cairo Curse (A Freddie and Grace mystery) by Pepper Basham

Freddie and Grace (Lord and Lady Astley) are two of my favorite characters in all of fiction. Pepper Basham has done it again, creating an awesome adventure in Cairo. I loved the setting of abandoned tombs. The description of the social rankings in 1900 Cairo were fascinating. Pepper's dedication to detail make reading her her books delightful.

So brew up some chai tea to enjoy while you read The Cairo Curse!

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Clue meets Indiana Jones with a fiction-loving twist only Grace Percy can provide.

Newlyweds Lord and Lady Astley have already experienced their fair-share of suspense, but when a honeymoon trip takes a detour to the mystical land of Egypt, not even Grace with her fiction-loving mind is prepared for the dangers in store. From an assortment of untrustworthy adventure-seekers to a newly discovered tomb with a murderous secret, Frederick and Grace must lean on each other to navigate their dangerous surroundings. As the suspects mount in an antiquities’ heist of ancient proportions, will Frederick and Grace’s attempts to solve the mystery lead to another death among the sands?

The Cairo’s Curse is a delightful sequel to The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper Basham in the Freddie and Grace Mystery series.

Stay With Me (waters Of Time book 3) by Jody Hedlund

Stay With Me, book 3 of The Waters of Time books by Jody Hedlund was absolutely fabulous! I loved the setting of Canterbury England, both present day and medieval times. To have both functioning castles of the past and the same castle existing as a ruin in present times. I really enjoyed the storyline. Sybil and Nicholas were a wonderful couple, both strong and independent, yet trying to overcome feelings of loss and abandonment. I was reading along enjoying the story, when along came a plot twist that I never saw coming, such a satisfying end to this book, but also a fascinating lead into the next! Yes there will be a fourth book, releasing May of 2023!

Brew up a pot of tea, grab a snack or two to enjoy while you curl up to read Stay With Me, Oh and make sure you shut off your phone, you won't want to be disturbed!

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own!

From Amazon:

Sacrificing and dying to oneself is costly.
But doing so brings new purpose and joy.

As a private investigator, Sybil Huxham has seen her fair share of strange occurrences. But nothing in her career has been more perplexing than the miracles she’s witnessed as a result of people drinking ancient holy water. When she discovers more of the rare holy water, she experiences strange overlaps with a nobleman in the Middle Ages who is languishing in a dungeon, accused of treason and condemned to die. To save his life, she finally crosses to the past completely.

Nicholas Worth has never met a woman quite like Sybil, and as the two run for their lives into the Weald, they find refuge among a community of outlaws. With both their reputations on the line, they have little choice but to marry. As they get to know each other, an undeniable attraction develops. But danger and disease chase after them, drawing ever closer. Will they be able to escape the threats? And will Sybil choose to stay with Nicholas in the past, or will she be ripped apart from him forever?

Fortress of Snow ( The Dericott Tales #4 ) by Melanie Dickerson

Melanie Dickerson is one of my favorite authors. I know when she releases a new book I am in for a good read. Fortress of Snow did not disappoint. I loved the plot which was fast moving. The setting was wonderful. And the message of faith is woven throughout the story. I love the Dericott family and look forward to reading more about them in the future.

I suggest you grab a cup of hot chocolate, a cozy blanket, and settle in for trip to another time.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Mazy dreams of independence. Sir Berenger longs to play the hero. But in each other, they may find the secret to happily ever after.

Mazelina of Wexcombe has always dreamed of traveling with her father to lands beyond the confining walls of their castle. But his sudden death deprives her of the future she imagined. Abandoned by her eldest brother, Mazy is soon forced to seek help from her beloved brother Sir John at the great estate of Strachleigh.

Her visit leads to a friendship with the dashing and noble Sir Berenger of Dericott. He has notions of rescuing a damsel in distress. But Mazy is brave enough to defend herself—and has proven that her skills in archery and knife throwing rival that of a knight’s. So when he is called away to Prussian lands, Sir Berenger looks to distinguish himself in battle.

When Sir Berenger returns, he and Mazy meet again on the streets of London, where she is making a living selling goods in the market. Meanwhile, he has been summoned by the king to receive a reward for his service. But the recognition comes with a price: He must marry a wealthy, titled widow to please the king. But when Mazy begins to suspect treachery, she embarks on a journey to the fortress of snow to warn the brave knight—and secure her own fairy-tale ending.

In this fourth novel set in the Dericott universe, Melanie Dickerson weaves an exciting reimagining of the Snow Queen tale.

Once Upon A Royal Christmas by Terri Wilson Read by Brittany Pressley

I listened to the audio version of this book. Once Upon a Royal Christmas is a fun read. If it hasn't been optioned by Hallmark movies it certainly should be. It is the lighthearted story of a young woman who makes a living as a party princess. She wins a contest and goes to a foreign kingdom. The plot was good and the narrator did a fine job. I look forward to reading more books by Teri Wilson.

So grab your phone and have a great listen while decorating cookies, the house, or whatever!

I was given a copy of this audio book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

I’m Prince Nikolas of San Glacera. Oh, you’ve never heard of us? Well, you’re not the only one. Our country relies on winter tourism, but we’re attracting fewer and fewer visitors. I admit it’s a problem. I just don’t think the solution is an American who likes to play dress-up.

You see, while I was away on a trip, my younger sister convinced the palace to hold a contest. The winner gets to star in our annual Ice Village festivities and accompany our royal family to holiday events.

And who did they choose? Gracie Clark, who runs a children’s party business and performs as—I kid you not—Princess Snowflake.

Of course, I do respect the fact that she volunteers at children’s hospitals. I suppose to some, she might have a certain charm, but the whole cheap spectacle is beneath our dignity.

I’m not going to shirk my duty to my kingdom. I’ll go to every event with her. At least, once Christmas is over, she’ll be gone.

About the author:

USA Today Bestselling Author Teri Wilson writes heartwarming contemporary romance with a touch of whimsy.
