The Orphan's Wish by Melanie Dickerson

It was with great trepidation that I picked up The Orphan's Wish. I have never liked Alladin and the only reason I picked up this book was that Melanie Dickerson wrote it. I have loved everything she has written and to my delight, I also loved this story. The plot is engaging and I loved the characters. This book will definitely go on my keeper shelf. Now if she could only make Alice in Wonderland palatable...but that's another issue. So grab your spiced chai and settle in for a great read!

I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley.com with no expectations for a positive review, All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

From New York Times bestselling author Melanie Dickerson comes an inspired retelling of the beloved folk tale Aladdin.
Orphaned and alone, Aladdin travels from the streets of his Arab homeland to a strange, faraway place. Growing up in an orphanage, he meets young Lady Kirstyn, whose father is the powerful Duke of Hagenheim. Despite the difference in their stations, Aladdin quickly becomes Kirstyn’s favorite companion, and their childhood friendship grows into a bond that time and opposition cannot break.
Even as a child, Aladdin works hard, learning all he can from his teachers. Through his integrity, intelligence, and sheer tenacity, he earns a position serving as the duke’s steward. But that isn’t enough to erase the shame of being forced to steal as a small child—or the fact that he’s an orphan with no status. If he ever wants to feel equal to his beautiful and generous friend Kirstyn, he must leave Hagenheim and seek his fortune.
Yet once Aladdin departs, Lady Kirstyn becomes a pawn in a terrible plot. Now, Aladdin and Kirstyn must rely on their bond to save her from unexpected danger. But will saving Kirstyn cost Aladdin his newfound status and everything he’s worked so hard to obtain?
An enchanting new version of the well-known tale, The Orphan’s Wish tells a story of courage and loyalty, friendship and love, and reminds us what “family” really means.

A Defense Of Honor by Kristi Ann Hunter

Kristi Ann Hunter is one of the freshest voices in Regency fiction. I love everything she writes. I wasn't sure that she could make me love new characters as much as I did those in the Hawthorn House series but The folks of Haven Manor are quickly becoming some of my favorites. You can get a brief introduction with a free novella from Amazon. A Search For Refuge https://www.amazon.com/Search-Refuge-Haven-Manor-Novella-ebook/dp/B079V1KN1K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1527603957&sr=8-2&keywords=kristi+ann+hunter+books
A Defense Of Honor is a thoroughly enjoyable read. So grab a cup of English Breakfast tea and some biscuits. Settle in for a terrific story.

Fall From Grace by J. Edward Ritchie

I was given a copy of this book by the author with no expectations of a review. I knew going in that this book was only loosely based on the Bible and I was prepared to overlook the theological differences I have. I did have a problem with Michael being called the Word because Jesus is the Word, but again theological difference. I found the book to be well written and the story flowed. I was sincerely enjoying the plot. Unfortunately, when I reached 35% in, there was graphic sexual content which killed the story for me. I stopped reading it. I am sad because I would have otherwise enjoyed finishing the book.

From Amazon:

Heaven: a paradise of all that is pure in Creation. Led by brothers Michael and Satanail, the Angelic Host is a testament to cosmic harmony and love. When an unprecedented revelation threatens to uproot their peace, a schism splits the Host’s loyalties. Every angel has to make a choice: faith or freedom. Good or evil.

Salvation or damnation.

War consumes Heaven in the first and most destructive loss of life that Creation will ever know. As brother turns on brother, the fate of both Heaven and Earth rests in the hands of the Creator’s chosen son, Michael. How far will he go, what will he sacrifice in the name of their Father, to protect his family?

Witness the tragic downfall of a civilization as told from both sides of the bloody rebellion. More than myth, more than legend, Heaven’s war will forever stand as a harrowing warning that even the purest of souls can fall from grace.

About the author:

A fan of all things genre from films to comics to video games, his work explores the intricate, primal balance between good and evil. Together Forever by Jody Hedlund

Jody Hedlund never disappoints! I can always count on a good read when I pick up one her books and Together Forever was fantastic. This is book two of her Orphan Train series. I loved reading about Marianne's trip on the placing out train trip. Ms. Hedlund did a wonderful job of recreating the atmosphere of New York City and the desperation of people to provide a better life for their children. I loved the plot and the plot twists. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book! So grab your travel mug of tea and ride along with Adam, Marianne, and the children as they travel to new lives.
