Hearts In Defiance by Heather Blanton

Hearts In Defiance is a story of the old west. Heather Blanton has written an enjoyable western that is a little more graphic than many other Christian fiction novels. She does not shy away from the violence and debauchery of the old west. She does, however, use the situations and characters to demonstrate G-d's redemptive power. I really enjoy Heather's books. Her characters come alive in the stories and all are strong personalities and most are a mix of good and bad.

A Lady in defiance is the first book I have read by Heather Blanton. It is a little darker than the usual books I read, but I really enjoyed it. Ther are themes of loss, anger at G-d, spiritual warfare, prostitution, drunkenness, violence, and restitution. The story is very engaging and I wanted to read fast so I would know their fate. But I also wanted to savor the story as it is so well written.I look forward to reading more books by Heather Blanton.

    The Fragment is an adventure story set in 1923 Paris. Muriel longs to escape the traditional roles of a female in her time. She accompanies her employer to Paris to photograph antiques. Soon she discovers she is there for more sinister reasons. 

       The Fragment, by Davis Bunn, has something for everyone, suspense, travel, fashion and romance. The book is very fast paced and thoroughly engrossing. I always enjoy Bunn's books and this was no exception.

The Prophetess: Deborah's Story by Jill Eileen Smith

Although very little information was given about Deborah in the Bible, I believe Jill Smith has done an excellent job of filling in the details of what might have been. She portrays Deborah as a very human woman, with human failings. But through good times and bad Deborah remains faithful to Adonai. This book is well written and fast paced. The characters are strong and the details put you right in the story. The Prophetess stays true to the little we know of Deborah.

Property Of A Noblewoman is typical Danielle Steel. I thought there was a good storyline and I genuinely liked the characters. There was language and sexual innuendo that I personally don't care for. It was a much shorter book than many of her older stories, but the story was complete. It was like some of her older books about rich people and jewelry. If you are looking for light reading, this book will satisfy.

On Lone Star Trail by Amanda Cabot

First off, let me begin by saying On Lone Star Trail is book three of the Texas Crossroads trilogy. I fully enjoyed the book and it can be read as a stand alone book. That said, finding out it was book three explained why it seemed strange that the story took it for granted that one would know backstory on some of the characters.
   Rainbow's End resort is the kind of place one goes to heal. Gillian used to be a concert pianist until her hand was shattered. T.J. was a teacher, who moonlighted as the RV pastor until his world was turned upside down. They end up at Rainbow's End. Good character development. The storyline was good, if a tad predictable. A good story to relax with.
