A Trial Of Innocents by Michael Swiger

I found A Trial Of Innocents to thoroughly engrossing. I loved all of the twists and turns of the legal system. It was particularly interesting to see how the author merged two cases into a mirror image of each other. I believe it forces a person to think about perspective and how guilt and innocence can be twisted to suit the narrative of the person telling the story.I feel the characters were well developed and believable. The plot was good and kept me engaged. I highly recommend this book .

So brew up a pot of coffee and settle in for a great read.

I borrowed a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

A Child Lost. A Secret Buried. A Trial That Changes Everything.

When a pregnant woman is savagely beaten and left in a coma, the town demands justice—and a nonverbal special needs man is quickly arrested. The case explodes in the media, and the calls for the death penalty grow louder.

Prosecutor Lori Franks is determined to win at all costs. Years ago, she sought an abortion. Now, she’s seeking the ultimate punishment for a man accused of doing the very same thing—ending a life in the womb. But when a chance DNA test reveals her own baby was switched at birth, Franks launches a custody battle for the child she once tried to destroy.

Enter Danial Solomon, a defense attorney with a heart for truth and a past he can’t forget. As he battles both Franks and the broken justice system, he uncovers a chilling web of conspiracy, corruption, and deception that could cost him everything—including his life.

A Trial of Innocents is a fast-paced, faith-filled legal thriller full of moral tension, courtroom drama, and redemptive grace.

Leah: Unnoticed. Unwanted. Unloved. by Amanda Bedzrah

Leah: Unnoticed. Unwanted. Unloved. by Amanda Bedzrah helps bring to life the story of Jacob, Rachel and Leah from the bible. Ms. Bedzrah did extensive research into Jewish history and the Bible in order to offer an authentic prtrayal of what life may have been like at the time that Jacob worked to earn Rachel as his wife. After Laban tricks Jacob into marrying Rachel's older sister Leah, Jacob must labor another seven years for Rachel.

As a result of the switched brides Leah is condemed to a life of always being less than. No matter what she does her husband always prefers her sister, his second wife. I loved the way that this book brought understanding as to how Leah may have fealt. It is a very good book.

I read this book and state that all thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Lying in bed next to ‘the man of her dreams’, Leah is crippled with fear and unable to sleep. She knows that her husband Jacob is going to wake up to her, not “the woman of his dreams”.

Jacob worked and served Leah’s father Laban for seven years to marry her younger sister Rachel, but on the night of their wedding, the brides were switched; the right man was married to the wrong bride.

As Leah anticipates, his dissatisfaction is not hidden; his rejection is immediate.

Seven days later, Jacob marries Rachel after promising to work another seven years for her.

Leah is now left in a place of pain and bitterness. A fearsome war erupts. She is in a battle for her husband’s affection – not with an enemy, but with her own sister!

Will she ever be loved and accepted?

Can God use a woman like Leah: unnoticed, unwanted, and unloved, to change history?

This book is a fictional retelling of one of the greatest Bible stories of all time. It is a story of love, deception, betrayal, competition, heartbreak, and forgiveness.

It reminds us that God has a plan and purpose for our lives. No pain is ever wasted with God!

Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah with Sam O'Neal

Vanished follows the life of Lt Colonel John Haggerty in the months leading up to the Rapture. I found this book to be well written and engaging. I liked all of the characters and found myself cheering them on, hoping they would make the right decisions. The events in the book seem realistic, as though they could happen at anytime.  Although it doesn't say I feel this is the first of a series and I eagerly look forward to reading the next book.

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

The end of the world . . .

As leader of a special military unit charged with stopping potential pandemics before they spread, John "Haggs" Haggerty has a front-row seat to the sharp increase in natural disasters that precede the Rapture--including plagues, earthquakes, famines, wars, and rumors of war. And each crisis is becoming more intense.

Meanwhile, his own world feels like it's falling apart. He's still caught in the grief of messing up his relationship with his ex-wife, and he's trying to keep it together so that he can show up for his adult daughter before she wants him out of her life entirely. As both personal and professional situations push him to the brink, Haggs finds himself stretched further than ever in his desire to be the kind of good person he knows he should be.

Just when it seems as if things might turn around, Haggs is forced to decide between his need to find solutions and his need for personal redemption.

A Seaview Christmas: An On Devonshires Shores Novella by Julie Klassen releasing September 2, 2025

A Sea View Christmas: An On Devonshire Shores Novella was a fun book to read. I enjoyed reuniting with the Summer sisters as they move on from a life of gentility to running a boarding house among other careers. The plot was interesting and I really liked the characters. I loved the setting of Seaview. I recommend reading the first three books as this is not a standalone book.

So set the air conditioner on high, get a cozy blanket and a pot of tea to drink while you savor A Sea View Christmas.

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

The holiday stirs up excitement as fondly remembered guests come to stay and acquaintances grow into more. . . .

With a promise to her youngest sister, Sarah Summers declares that this year's Christmas at Sea View will exceed all expectations. But an upcoming trip to Scotland--and the prospect of becoming reacquainted with dashing widower Callum Henshall--blows a flurry of doubts into her mind. Sarah had discouraged his attentions before yet soon finds herself once again torn between attraction and duty as alluring thoughts of a second chance at love weave their way into her practical heart.

Meanwhile, seventeen-year-old Georgiana eagerly anticipates the exciting Christmas of her dreams after last year's dull, disappointing holiday filled with endless chores. She enjoys all the promised parties, music, and dancing, but is taken by surprise when young love comes knocking. Does the festive romance of a Sea View Christmas hold the key to a happily-ever-after for both sisters?

Spend the holiday season with the Summers sisters on the charming Devonshire coast, where family bonds are strengthened, love is rekindled, and Christmas joy abounds.

Julie Klassen's heartwarming Christmas companion to the On Devonshire Shores series holds themes of friends to more, sisterhood bonds, and matchmaking that will fill you with holiday spirit. This novella can be read separately or along with the series and will appeal to fans of Jane Austen, English Regency romance, and Downtown Abbey.
