Dead Fall by Nancy Mehl

Nancy Mehl's Dead Fall is one of the most suspenseful books I have read this year. She had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who was plotting the deaths of the FBI's Behavioral Analysts. Alex Donovan is joined by Kaely Quinn an infamous analyst. I loved how the characters were fully developed and the plot was fast-moving and kept me guessing until the end. Nancy also wove her faith through the characters' lives in a fantastic way. I would advise clearing your schedule, fixing a pot of tea, and curling up in your favorite reading nook for a fantastic read.

I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

He has a deadly endgame in mind--and he's already chosen each victim . . . including her.

After putting to rest the most personal case of her career, Alex Donovan is ready to move on and focus on her future at the FBI's elite Behavioral Analysis Unit. When the BAU cofounder is discovered dead in his hotel room, the FBI is called in to work on the strangest case they've ever faced. How do you find a killer who murders his victims from a distance?

When it becomes clear that the killer is targeting agents in Alex's unit, they are ordered into lockdown, sheltered in the dorms at Quantico. Alex bunks with controversial agent Kaely Quinn, and as they work together, Alex discovers in Kaely the role model she's never had--despite being warned away.

As Alex questions the type of agent she wants to become, things get personal when the brilliant killer strikes close to home. Now Alex will do anything to find the killer--even at the risk of her own life.

All of Nancy's novels have an added touch - something for your spirit as well as your soul. "I welcome the opportunity to share my faith through my writing," Nancy says. "It's a part of me and of everything I think or do. God is number one in my life. I wouldn't be writing at all if I didn't believe that this is what He's called me to do. I hope everyone who reads my books will walk away with the most important message I can give them: God is good, and He loves you more than you can imagine. He has a good plan especially for your life, and there is nothing you can't overcome with His help."

The Heart Of A Cowboy by Jody Hedlund

Jody Hedlund's Heart Of A Cowboy is a beautiful story about Linnea Newberry a scientist and a proponent of woman's rights and Flynn McQuaid an overprotective cowboy. I enjoyed reading about their journey west. Flynn has vowed never to marry, while Linnea, recently widowed will only settle for love. I loved watching their faith grow as their love for each other also grows. The plot is fast-moving and the characters are believable.

I suggest you fix your favorite coffee and settle into a cozy chair for an awesome read.

I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

When he agreed to guard her, he never bargained on having to guard his heart.

Brilliant scientist Linnea Newberry is on the adventure of a lifetime, traveling the Santa Fe Trail with her grandfather, Dr. Howell, on a botanical expedition to Colorado Territory. She longs to be valued for her contributions and not seen as a helpless liability. But at every calamity she faces, her grandfather threatens to send her home.

After watching his ma suffer and die in childbirth, Flynn McQuaid has sworn off women and marriage forever. Headed west to start a new life, he has his hands full not only taking care of his younger siblings but also delivering cattle to his older brother. He doesn't need more complications.

When Flynn rescues Linnea from drowning during a river crossing, Dr. Howell promptly
hires Flynn--unbeknownst to Linnea--to act as her bodyguard for the rest of the trip. As
Flynn fights against the many dangers of the trail, he soon finds himself in the greatest danger of all--falling for a woman he's determined not to love.

About the author:

Jody Hedlund is the author of over thirty historicals for both adults and teens and is the winner of numerous awards including the Christy, Carol, and Christian Book Award.

Jody lives in central Michigan with her husband, five busy children, and five spoiled cats. Although Jody prefers to experience daring and dangerous adventures through her characters rather than in real life, she’s learned that a calm existence is simply not meant to be (at least in this phase of her life!).

When she’s not penning another of her page-turning stories, she loves to spend her time reading, especially when it also involves consuming coffee and chocolate.

Enamored, Knights Of The Brethren book 1 by Jody Hedlund

Jody Hedlund is fast becoming one of my favorite YA authors. I love her storytelling skills. She creates wonderful tales of time gone by, with reasonable explanations for dragons! I love her characters, she fully develops both good and evil characters that keep one engaged in the story. Jody brings to life beautiful settings and weaves her faith throughout the tale.

Brew up a pot of tea to enjoy with a slice of quick bread and curl up in a comfy spot on a chilly afternoon for an awesome read! Fortunately, I won't have to wait long for Entwined, book 2 in the Knights Of The Brethren series.

Lost In Darkness by Michelle Griep

As the days get colder, and the nights are longer, what better thing to do than to curl up with a gothic novel? Michelle Griep has written a terrific novel, Lost In Darkness. It is a bit darker in tone than I usually read, but I found myself caught up in the story. I really enjoyed the literary and scientific references sprinkled throughout the book. Amelia and Graham are great main characters and I liked Colin, Betsy, and Nemo. Many other supporting characters add to the story. I loved the theme of redemption and forgiveness. So brew a pot of tea, grab some cookies and settle into your favorite reading nook for a suspenseful, intriguing read.

From Amazon:

Even if there be monsters, there is none so fierce as that which resides in man’s own heart.
Enchanting Regency-Era Gothic Romance Intertwined with Inspiration from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

Travel writer Amelia Balfour’s dream of touring Egypt is halted when she receives news of a revolutionary new surgery for her grotesquely disfigured brother. This could change everything, and it does. . .in the worst possible way.

Surgeon Graham Lambert has suspicions about the doctor he’s gone into practice with, but he can’t stop him from operating on Amelia’s brother. Will he be too late to prevent the man’s death? Or to reveal his true feelings for Amelia before she sails to Cairo?

About the author:

I hear voices. Loud. Incessant. And very real. Which basically gives me two options: choke back massive amounts of Prozac or write fiction. I've been writing since I discovered blank wall space and Crayolas. I seek to glorify God in all that I write--except for that graffiti phase I went through as teenager

Forgiving Paris by Karen Kingsbury

Ever since I read Redemption, the first Baxter novel, I wondered what happened to Ashley in Paris. Forgiving Paris is as the name says a book about forgiveness. I loved the way the story was balanced between memories and the current time. The love and courage Ashley and Blake showed in facing the past was admirable and demonstrated their faith in God! I adored the way the story ended and don't think any other ending would have been as satisfying. So grab your cozy blanket, a pot of tea, and curl up in your favorite reading nook! You are in for a fabulous read!

From Amazon:

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of life-changing fiction brings her signature “emotional, heart-tugging” (Woman’s World) prose to this wise and worldly novel of forgiveness and hope in the City of Lights.

In Indiana, Ashley Baxter Blake and her husband are about to take an anniversary trip to Paris, but she is hesitant. More than two decades ago, she made her most grievous mistake in that same city. She has never forgiven herself for what happened there, and she still harbors secrets that she’s afraid will come to light. Just before the trip, Ashley gets a call from her niece. Jessie explains that her French boyfriend’s mother remembers working at a bakery with an American named Ashley. “Could that be you?”

When Alice and Ashley meet, a flood of memories comes for both women, taking Ashley back to a reckless affair and an unexpected pregnancy and Alice to the night she nearly ended it all. Can this reunion bring healing and closure? Maybe it is finally time for Ashley to forgive herself...and Paris.

Carved In Stone by Elizabeth Camden

Sometimes you read a book that is so lovely that when you reach the end all you can do is sigh. Such a book leaves you so content that you just sit back and look at your to-be-read pile unable to move on. Carved In Stone is such a book. The story is engaging and pulls you along. The characters are delightful, I would love to wander the greenhouse with Gwen, and Patrick is an awesome dude. So brew up a pot of good Irish Tea and grab a few tea cakes, you are in for a fantastic story!

From Amazon:

Her gilded world holds a deeply hidden secret.

After years of tragedy, Gwen Kellerman now lives a quiet life as a botanist at an idyllic New York college. She largely ignores her status as heiress to the infamous Blackstone dynasty and hopes to keep her family's heartbreak and scandal behind her.

Patrick O'Neill survived a hardscrabble youth to become a lawyer for the downtrodden Irish immigrants in his community. He's proud of his work, even though he struggles to afford his ramshackle law office. All that changes when he accepts a case that is sure to emphasize the Blackstones' legacy of greed and corruption by resurrecting a thirty-year-old mystery.

Little does Patrick suspect that the Blackstones will launch their most sympathetic family member to derail him. Gwen is tasked with getting Patrick to drop the case, but the old mystery takes a shocking twist neither of them saw coming. Now, as they navigate a burgeoning attraction and growing danger, Patrick and Gwen will be forced to decide if the risk to the life they've always held dear is worth the reward.
