The Prince Of Spies (Hope and Glory #3) by Elizabeth Camden

Prince Of Spies by Elizabeth Camden is my favorite book of The Hope and Glory trilogy. I love Luke's carefree exterior. He appears to be a playboy but he is so much deeper. And Marianne is a delight. I loved the theme of forgiveness and reconciliation. This was the perfect conclusion to a fabulous series. So grab your sweet tea and settle into your favorite reading spot for an enjoyable, satisfying read.

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Luke Delacroix has the reputation of a charming man-about-town in Gilded Age Washington, DC. In reality, he is secretly carrying out an ambitious agenda in Congress. His current mission is to thwart the reelection of Congressman Clyde Magruder, his only real enemy in the world.

But trouble begins when Luke meets Marianne Magruder, the congressman's only daughter, whose job as a government photographer gives her unprecedented access to sites throughout the city. Luke is captivated by Marianne's quick wit and alluring charm, leading them both into a dangerous gamble to reconcile their feelings for each other with Luke's driving passion for vital reforms in Congress.

Can their newfound love survive a political firestorm, or will three generations of family rivalry drive them apart forever?

The Mistletoe Countess by Pepper Basham releasing September 1, 2021

It started with a kiss, but it wasn't supposed to be her kiss. I loved every word of the Mistletoe Countess! Grace and Frederick are fantastic characters! Think Heart To Heart set in 1913. I loved the setting, beginning in the Blue Ridge Mountains, ending in an English country Manor house. This book has romance (think sizzling kisses!), mystery, humor, and dare I say murder... even a ghost! So grab your copy, a pot of tea, and find a cozy reading nook! You are not going to want to put this book down until it's finished! I hope you love this masterpiece by Pepper Basham as much as I do!

I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley.com with no expectations. All Thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Will the magic of Christmas bring these two newlyweds closer together, or will the ghosts of the past lead them into a destructive discovery from which not even a Dickens’s Christmas can save them?

Mistletoe is beautiful and dangerous, much like the woman from Lord Frederick’s Percy’s past, so when he turns over a new leaf and arranges to marry for his estate, instead of his heart, he never expects the wrong bride to be the right choice. Gracelynn Ferguson never expected to take her elder sister’s place as a Christmas bride, but when she’s thrust into the choice, she will trust in her faithful novels and overactive imagination to help her not only win Frederick’s heart but also to solve the murder mystery of Havensbrook Hall before the ghosts from Frederick’s past ruin her fairytale future.

From Amazon:

In this Ugly Duckling retelling, New York Times bestselling author Melanie Dickerson brilliantly crafts a high-stakes, encouraging tale about the power of love.

Ever since she was a child, Audrey wanted her life to be extraordinary. But as the daughter of a viscount born in late fourteenth-century England, the only thing expected of her was to marry-until an act of malice by her sister, Maris, four years ago damaged her face and her prospects. Though Maris was sent away, twenty-year-old Audrey is still suffering the scars of her sister’s cruelty. When her father announces his plans to marry off his damaged daughter and bring Maris home, Audrey decides to flee in search of her true destiny.

However, life outside her home is dangerous, and she soon finds herself attacked, sick, and in desperate need of help. She is taken in at Dericott Castle to be nursed back to health. While there, she decides to keep her identity a secret and work as a servant in the castle. But she doesn’t count on falling in love with the young and handsome Lord Dericott, who lost his arm several months earlier and bears scars of his own.

Meanwhile, Edwin—Lord Dericott—is curious about the new, well-educated servant’s identity. All he knows is that he’s quickly becoming smitten with her. When the man Audrey’s father wanted her to marry comes looking for her, she and Edwin must make life-changing decisions about what to believe and whether or not love is truly worth trusting.

No Journey Too Far by Carrie Turansky

In No Journey Too Far, Carie Turansky has definitely showcased her research skills. This book continues the story of the McAlister family. While most of the family was reunited in book one, this book features Grace who along with Katie and Garth were mistakenly placed with families in Canada by the British Home Society. Ms. Turansky has created fascinating characters and placed them in an engaging plot. I loved the setting and the plot and enjoyed learning about the British version of the American orphan trains. I do recommend reading No Ocean Too Wide first.

So grab your favorite beverage and settle in for a lovely read.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

A family long divided, a mysterious trunk, and a desperate journey across the ocean—all in the name of love. The epic saga of the McAlisters continues in this riveting sequel to No Ocean Too Wide.

In 1909, Grace McAlister set sail for Canada as one of the thousands of British Home Children taken from their families and their homeland. Though she is fortunate enough to be adopted by wealthy parents, the secrets of her past are kept hidden for ten years until someone from her long-buried childhood arrives on her doorstep. With this new connection to her birth family, will she be brave enough to leave her sheltered life in Toronto and uncover the truth?

After enduring hardship as an indentured British Home Child, Garth McAlister left Canada to serve in World War I. His sweetheart, Emma Lafferty, promised to wait for his return, but after three long years apart, her letters suddenly stopped. When Garth arrives home from the war to unexpected news, he is determined to return to Canada once more on a daunting mission to find the two women he refuses to abandon—his long-lost sister and his mysteriously missing sweetheart.

From the publisher:

In the 1860s – 1930s more than 100,000 poor and British Home Children were taken from their homes and families and sent to Canada. Most were not adopted, but became indentured servants and farm laborers. Some were well treated, but many suffered because of prejudice, neglect, and isolation. When they grew up, many of them kept their past a secret even from their own families because of what they had experienced and the prejudice of society.

British Home Children were among the first to enlist and serve in the Canadian military during the Great War – World War One. Many were decorated, some with the highest honors, and many perished. At the beginning of No Journey Too Far, the fictional hero Garth McAlister returns from serving in Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, where he cared for the regiment’s horses, and begins the search for his sweetheart.

In the Edwardian age, travel by train was the fastest way to cross the vast landscape of Canada. In No Journey Too Far, the McAlisters and their friends travel by train and ship as they continue their search for Grace, who has been missing from their family for ten years.

Dusk's Darkest Shores by Carolyn Miller

Dusk's Darkest Shores is Carolyn Miller's latest creation. I loved the fact that it was a regency but took place in a small village rather than London. It featured villagers rather than the Ton. Adam and Mary were realistic and were courageous enough to ask the hard questions about God, but still, remain faithful. I really enjoyed the look into what village life was like with many diverse characters and problems. I am eagerly looking forward to Midnight's Budding Morrow next year.

So pour up a cup of tea and a plate of scones, then curl up for a beautiful read.

I was given a copy of Dusk's Darkest Shores with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

How can a meek wallflower help a returning war hero whose dreams are plunged into darkness?

Mary Bloomfield has no illusions. Her chances for matrimony have long since passed her by. Still, her circumstances are pleasant enough, especially now that she has found purpose in assisting her father with his medical practice in England's beautiful Lake District. Even without love, it's a peaceful life.

That is until Adam Edgerton returns to the sleepy district. This decorated war hero did not arrive home to acclaim and rest, but to a new battle against the repercussions of an insidious disease. Mary's caring nature cannot stand to see someone suffer--but how can she help this man see any brightness in his future when he's plunged into melancholic darkness, his dreams laid waste by his condition?

Adam wants no charity, but he's also no coward. If this gentlewoman can work hard, how can he do less? Together they struggle to find a way forward for him. Frustration and antipathy slowly develop into friendship and esteem. Then a summer storm atop a mountain peak leads to scandal--and both Mary and Adam must search the depths of their closed hearts for answers if they hope to find any future path with happiness at its end.

Best-selling author Carolyn Miller is back with a fresh series that will not only thrill readers eager for more of her work, but bring in new fans looking for beautiful writing, fascinating research, deftly woven love stories, and real faith lived out in the Regency period.

About the author:

Award-winning author Carolyn Miller lives in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. She is married, with four gorgeous children, who all love to read (and write!).

A longtime lover of Regency romance, Carolyn's novels have won a number of Romance Writers of American (RWA) and American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) contests as well as the Australian Omega Christian Writers Award. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Australasian Christian Writers. Her favourite authors are classics like Jane Austen (of course!), Georgette Heyer, and Agatha Christie, but she also enjoys contemporary authors like Susan May Warren and Becky Wade.

Her stories are fun and witty, yet also deal with real issues, such as dealing with forgiveness, the nature of really loving versus 'true love', and other challenges we all face at different times.

Her books include:
Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace
The Elusive Miss Ellison
The Captivating Lady Charlotte
The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey

Regency Brides: A Promise of Hope
Winning Miss Winthrop
Miss Serena's Secret
The Making of Mrs. Hale

Regency Bride: Daughters of Aynsley
A Hero for Miss Hatherleigh
Underestimating Miss Cecilia
Misleading Miss Verity --This text refers to the paperback edition.

Carolyn Miller

Biography

Hi, I'm Carolyn Miller, author of 'The Elusive Miss Ellison'.

I live in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.

I'm married, with four gorgeous children, who all love to read (and write!) as I do (except not in the Regency genre - funny, that!).

My favourite authors are classics like Jane Austen (of course!), Georgette Heyer, and Agatha Christie, but I also enjoy contemporary authors like Susan May Warren and Becky Wade.

Come Back To Me by Jody Hedlund

I have been a fan of Jody Hedlund for many years and have watched with pleasure as her writing craft has grown. With each book, her storytelling skills have become stronger. Having just finished Come Back To Me I believe I have a new favorite. Her storyline is strong and engaging. I love both Marian and William. I found myself staying up late to see what they were up to. I loved the theory of the Holy Waters ability. Setting the story in Canterbury added to the story. Jody included many historic sites and facts that enhanced the plot. While Come Back To Me is fantastic and complete, I am eagerly awaiting the next book in The Waters Of Time series.

Grab a pot of tea and settle into your favorite reading spot. You are sure to enjoy Come Back To Me.

I was given a copy of this book by #NetGalley with no expectations. All thoughts are my own

From Amazon:

The ultimate cure that could heal any disease? Crazy.

That's exactly what research scientist Marian Creighton has always believed about her father's quest, even if it does stem from a desire to save her sister Ellen from the genetic disease that stole their mother from them. But when her father falls into a coma after drinking a vial of holy water believed to contain traces of residue from the Tree of Life, Marian must question all of her assumptions. He's left behind tantalizing clues that suggest he's crossed back in time. Insane. Until Marian tests his theories and finds herself in the Middle Ages during a dangerous peasant uprising.

William Durham, a valiant knight comes to Marian's rescue and offers her protection . . . as his wife. The longer Marian stays in the past, the more she cares about William. Can she ever find her father and make it back to the present to heal her sister? And when the time comes to leave, will she want to?

Bestselling author Jody Hedlund is your guide down the twisting waters of time to a volatile era of superstition, revolts, and chivalry in this suspenseful story.
