I usually enjoy Brunstetter's books, but with the English Son and The Stubborn Father, I feel she is trying too hard to come up with a story to justify the fact that each installment is $6.99. If both books had been included in a full-size novel I may have been more content. The amount of reminiscing was excessive and the plot is thin. I am glad that I checked these out from the library and did not waste my money. I will probably not even check out the other 4 books. Very disappointing for a Brunstetter book.
