The Indebted Earl by Erica Vetsch

The Indebted Earl by Erica Vetsch is the third book in her Regency series Serendipity and Secrets. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book. The Indebted Earl tells Lady Sophia Haverly's story of her quest to find her own life. She is the youngest daughter of a Duke. Captain Charles Wyvern was raised from the age of 12 on ships. That is the only life he knows or wants. I loved how Ms. Vetsch has woven their stories together. I really enjoyed the setting and the characters. The plot is enjoyable and kept pulling me away from my chores because I needed to know what happened next!  Fans of Julie Klassen, Lori Wick, Kristi Ann Hunter, Carolyn Miller, and Michelle Griep are sure to love Erica Vetsch! I look forward to reading more of her books!

So brew a pot of tea and settle in for a superb read!

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Can Captain Wyvern keep his new marriage of convenience all business--or will it turn into something more?

Captain Charles Wyvern owes a great debt to the man who saved his life--especially since Major Richardson lost his own life in the process. The best way to honor that hero's dying wish is for Wyvern to escort the man’s grieving fiancĂ©e and mother safely to a new cottage home by the sea. But along the way, he learns of another obligation that has fallen on his shoulders: his uncle has died and the captain is now the Earl of Rothwell.

When he and the ladies arrive at his new manor house in Devon, they discover an estate in need of a leader and a gaggle of girls, all wards of the former earl. War the new earl knows; young ladies and properties he does not. Still wishing to provide for the bereaved Lady Sophia Haverly, Charles proposes a marriage of convenience.

Sophie is surprised to find she isn't opposed to the idea. It will help her care for her betrothed's elderly mother, and she's already fallen in love with the wayward girls on the Rothwell estate. This alliance is a chance to repay the captain who has done so much for her care, as well as divert her attention from her grief. When Wyvern returns to his sea commission, she'll stay behind to oversee his property and wards.

It sounds so simple. Until the stalwart captain is arrested on suspicion of smuggling, and Sophie realizes how much he's come to mean to her. Now she'll have to learn to fight, not only for his freedom but also for his love.

Winning The Gentleman by Kristi Ann Hunter

Winning the gentleman is a fabulous Regency by Kristi Ann Hunter. Although this is Aaron and Sophia's story, I was delighted to visit with characters from Kristi's other books. Winning the Gentleman has witty dialogue and gorgeous settings. Sophia is delightful and I loved how Aaron grew throughout the book. Throw in horses and snarky aristocrats for a perfectly delightful book.

So brew a pot of Irish breakfast tea to go along with your raspberry scones. settle in and enjoy the ride!

I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley.com with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

Aaron Whitworth hasn't had control over most aspects of his life, but he's always taken pride in being an honorable businessman and better-than-average horseman. When both of those claims are threatened, he makes the desperate decision to hire the horse trainer of a traveling circus as a temporary jockey for his racehorses.

Sophia Fitzroy knows that most horsemen don't take her seriously because she's a woman, but she can't pass up the opportunity to get away from the tumultuous world of travel and performing. As she fights for the right to do the work she was hired for, she learns the fight for Aaron's guarded heart might be an even more worthwhile challenge.

The Beirut Protocol by Joel Rosenberg

If you are looking for an edge of your seat, I don't need to sleep tonight, political thriller then look no farther than Joel Rosenberg's The Beirut Protocol, book 4 in his Marcus Ryker series. This book is not for the squeamish as it does deal with terrorism.  As Mr. Rosenberg lives in Israel his books have an authentic feel to them. The plot is fast-moving with several twists that keep you guessing as to what is to come. I like Marcus Ryker as a character and for the most part, he is very realistic, but in this book, some of his actions make him come across as a superhero. When all is said and done I found this to be a most satisfying book.

So grab a glass of mint tea and a plate of falafel to enjoy while reading The Beirut Protocol.

I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley.com with no obligations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

From the New York TimesUSA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author!
A game-changing peace treaty between Israel and the Saudis is nearly done.

The secretary of state is headed to the region to seal the deal.

And Special Agent Marcus Ryker is leading an advance trip along the Israeli-Lebanon border, ahead of the secretary’s arrival.

But when Ryker and his team are ambushed by Hezbollah forces, a nightmare scenario begins to unfold. The last thing the White House can afford is a new war in the Mideast that could derail the treaty and set the region ablaze. U.S. and Israeli forces are mobilizing to find the hostages and get them home, but Ryker knows the clock is ticking.

When Hezbollah realizes who they’ve captured, no amount of ransom will save them—they’ll be transferred to Beirut and then to Tehran to be executed on live television.

In the fourth installment of Rosenberg’s gripping new series, Marcus Ryker finds himself in the most dangerous situation he has ever faced—captured, brutalized, and dragged deep behind enemy lines.

Should he wait to be rescued? Or try to escape? How? And what if his colleagues are too wounded to run?

This is the CIA’s most valuable operative as you have never seen him before.

The Thief Of Blackfriars Lane by Michelle Griep

Fans of Charles Dicken's books will be sure to love The thief Of Blackfriars Lane. While other authors focus on the rich and infamous of the Regency period, Michelle Griep chooses to show the seedier side of London. With footraces through the crowded alleys, slopping through the sears, and hanging out on the docks, She shows what life was like for those at the bottom of society. I loved the word pictures she painted. I also enjoyed learning some of the street language of the time. So grab a copy of The thief of Blackfriar's Lane and enjoy Jackson and Kit's story.
Grab a mug of tea and a packet of roasted chestnuts while you settle in for a great read.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

From Amazon:

There’s Often a Fine Line Between a Criminal and a Saint

Constable Jackson Forge intends to make the world safer, or at least the streets of Victorian London. But that’s Kit Turner’s domain, a swindler who runs a crew that acquires money the old-fashioned way—conning the rich to give to the poor. When a local cab driver goes missing, Jackson is tasked with finding the man, and the only way to do that is by enlisting Kit’s help. If Jackson doesn’t find the cabby, he’ll be fired. If Kit doesn’t help Jackson, he’ll arrest her for thievery. Yet neither of them realize those are the least of their problems.

Biography

I hear voices. Loud. Incessant. And very real. Which basically gives me two options: choke back massive amounts of Prozac or write fiction. I've been writing since I discovered blank wall space and Crayolas. I seek to glorify God in all that I write--except for that graffiti phase I went through as teenager.

The Gentleman Spy by Erica Vetsch

Erica Vetsch is swiftly becoming one of my favorite authors. I first read The Lost Lieutenant and now The Gentleman Spy. Both books sucked me in. I didn't want to do anything other than find out what was happening in the story, so I give her 5 stars for the plot! The characters were realistic and engaging. I cheered for them and sat at the edge of my seat at times with concern. I am bummed that I need to wait until March 23 for The Indebted Earl. Anyone that loves Carolyn Miller, Julie Klassen, Kristi Hunter, or Michelle Griep will adore Erica Vetsch.

So grab a pot of tea and settle in for a fantastic read!

I borrowed a copy from Hoopla, but have since bought my own copy. All thoughts are my own.

So put the coffee on and settle in for a good old marriage of convenience story.
